Day-by-Day Itinerary

Depart Nairobi at 07:00 and drive to the Aberdare National Park. We start the trek from the park gate, hiking through bamboo and montane forest to our first camp at around 2,500 m. The hike is about 4-5 hours. Overnight camping.

Aberdare Forest Camp (2,500 m)

Lunch, Dinner

We ascend above the bamboo zone into the moorland, characterized by giant lobelias and tussock grass. The trail offers views of the peaks and the Rift Valley. We set up camp at around 3,400 m. Trek duration approx. 5-6 hours.

Aberdare Moorland Camp (3,400 m)

Breakfast, Lunch (packed), Dinner

Early departure to summit Satima Peak (3,997 m) via a well-defined ridge. After celebrating on the summit, we descend to a base camp near the base of Lesatima (approx. 3,800 m). The hike takes about 6-7 hours. Overnight camping.

Lesatima Base Camp (3,800 m)

We rise early for the summit push to Lesatima (4,001 m), the highest point in the Aberdare Range. The final ascent is on alpine moorland with some rock scrambling. After summit celebrations, we descend all the way to the forest camp (approx. 6-7 hours). Overnight camping.

Aberdare Forest Camp (2,500 m)

After breakfast, we trek out to the park gate (approx. 2-3 hours) and transfer back to Nairobi, arriving by early afternoon.
