Tsavo East and Tsavo West together form Kenya's largest wilderness — a landscape of red earth, doum palms and volcanic hills where the elephants dust themselves terracotta and the horizons run unbroken. Over four days this safari covers both parks: the open savannah and the Galana River in the East, then the springs, lava flows and rhino sanctuary of the West. Highlights include Mzima Springs, where hippos and crocodiles drift past an underwater viewing chamber fed by Kilimanjaro's melt-water, Lugard Falls' sculpted rapids, and the Shetani lava fields. Fewer vehicles than the Mara, bigger skies than anywhere — this is safari with elbow room.
