About this trip

A compact combination of a high-altitude Mount Kenya trek and a short Maasai Mara safari. The mountain route approaches through the forest and Chogoria side, reaches the alpine zone, and makes a pre-dawn attempt on Point Lenana (4,984 m) before descending toward Sirimon. The safari leg follows the Rift Valley road to the Mara for game drives.

This seven-day schedule is deliberately fast-paced: it has a long summit day and no separate recovery day between the trek and safari. It suits fit walkers who accept early starts and long road transfers. Summit success and wildlife sightings are not guaranteed; the guide can change the plan for weather, altitude or safety.

Mount Kenya is usually clearest in January-February and July-September. Mara wildlife is present year-round; migratory herds move with rainfall and are not guaranteed.
