Ngorongoro Crater
The world's largest unbroken volcanic caldera and a Big Five wildlife haven.
About Ngorongoro Crater
The Ngorongoro Crater is the world's largest unbroken volcanic caldera, stretching 19 kilometres across with walls rising 600 metres above the floor. This UNESCO World Heritage Site shelters approximately 30,000 animals in a self-contained ecosystem of grasslands, swamps, acacia woodland, and the soda lake of Lake Magadi. It is one of Africa's most reliable locations for spotting the Big Five, including the endangered black rhinoceros. Maasai pastoralists continue to graze their cattle on the crater rim, adding a cultural dimension to the safari experience.
