for the climbers who have a long holiday may prefer to hike mtkenya and combine with a budgeted camping or lodge safari in samburu and the lakes,our mountkenya hike starts in chogoria town whereby we drive to mountkenya forest with our crew members and a 10km walk for acclimatisation to meru mtkenya bandas campsite 2950m,animals may be seen on the way while trekking,on a clear day you will be able to see,mugi hill,ithanguni,giant billiard, the peaks of mtkenya from chogoria gate,
Day 1: Nairobi- Mount Kenya Bandas (2,950m) 3hrs, 10km walk, 650m ascent.
Depart from Nairobi at 7 and drive through the rich highlands of mountkenya,reching the base town in chogoria for lunch.after purchasing the food and tents,proceed together with the porters,guide and cook,the drive will take 2 hours through the chogoria forest,after arriving at meru mountkenya bandas or camp,pitch the tent,and later have dinner and overnight in the camp 2950m
Day 2: Mount Kenya Bandas – Lake Ellis Campsite ( 3,600m) 3hrs, 9km, 700m ascent.
Wake up for breakfast at meru mountkenya bandas campsite,then follow the path at the giant heather and forest to the road head camp 3300m,where by you divert through the stream branching road head and the lake ellis stream on to nithi falls,after a short picture break proceed to lake ellis camp,through the mugi hills whereby if you climb up yopu will be able to see the nithi river.time used will be 3-4 hrs.
Day 3:Lake ellis camp- Minto`s Camp. ( 4,200m) 4 hrs, 12km, 600m ascent.
An early start,hiking through the track following a ridge up on the mountain in 3hrs you will have done an altitude of 4100m whereby you join the normally used track to chogoria route,in this altitude you will have a very gorgeus,scenic and breathtaking views of the lakes an elongated depression usually traversed by a stream. and ithanguni hill seen on the right side of the peaks.a further 1 hour hike will lead you to mintos hut 4200m where you will spend the rest of the day visiting lake michaelson later have an overnight at the mintos camp.
Day 4: Minto`s – Pt Lenana ( 4,985m)- Mintos) or optional sirimon route
you will wake up after midnight at 2:30,to attempt to the main mountain peak point lenana to arrive at 6:30am, for the sunrise from your climb at the top.there will be a photographic opotunity followed by a 1 hour descend to either sirimon side or back to the same route chogoria route.breakfast will be at 4200m at mintos hut,mountkenya chogoria route has become the most attractive route to climb on,it is the most scenic route with most numbers of clients deciding on the mountkenya chogoria route,it has the most attractive site and lakes such as lake michaelson,lake halis and lake ellis,mountkenya choria route has the most eye atractive water falls such as nithi falls and vivian falls,big number of tourists are trekking the route because it has got some activities of fishing activity
NB:optional you can either decide to descend down to sirimon route or back to the same route.
Day 5: Meru mountkenya Bandas – Chogoria town – samburu
. 3 hrs, 10km walk
After breakfast, set on morning journey t Choogoria town after a succesful hike to mountkenya,get away from the crowds and see a different slice of Africa savanna? Come North with us to Samburu sopa, Shaba and Buffalo Springs Reserves. Along the way, we’ll pass the country’s green land of tea and coffee sorounding Mt. Kenya region. In Samburu, you’ll find abundant wildlife as the reserve features plenty of the big cats and over 900 big elephants. Neighboring Shaba and Buffalo Springs offer a dramatic choice of scenic terrain – from riverine forests to old lava flows to marshes and springs. There’s so much variety of wildlife and landscape awaiting you on this short 3-day adventure, so give yourself a treat,
Day 6: samburu full day game drive
There’s something about samburu national park that our guests find calming, even in the midst of all the wildlife. Perhaps it’s the fact that Samburu is somewhat off the beaten path, so you’ll enjoy a wild game park with fewer tourists. And you’ll be treated to the sight of such unique creatures as Grevy’s zebra, gerenuk and the Somali Ostrich.
Your safari also includes visits to neighboring reserves – Buffalo Springs features a volcanic landscape broken up by forest and marsh. At Shaba National Reserve you’ll find a greener landscape than Samburu with forests, woodlands and even the iconic Shaba Hill Volcano. Combined, these three parks are a visual feast of scenic terrain and wildlife. Day 7. samburu-Aberdares park at the Ark.
Your day will start early, with a game drive through Samburu before breakfast. You will have the chance to see the transition from darkness to daytime across the savanna, with the animals of the day awakening whilst the nocturnal creatures return to their slumber.
As you leave Samburu, you will be able to say a farewell to the reserve as you take a game drive towards the exit. You will arrive at Aberdares National Park in time for lunch which is preceded by another game drive in the evening
Day 8.-Aberdares to lake nakuru national park.
Later proceed to the lake Nakuru national park.There shall be a stop to view the scenic Thompson falls at Nyahururu.The drive via farming country and local homesteads via the Great rift valley escarpment floor is scenic.Afternoon bird watching and game viewing drive.Enjoy the diverse ecology and varied habitats that range from the Lake itself to the surrounding areas.Lake Nakuru National Park is ideal for bird watching easy hikes and game viewing drives.The lake is home to hundreds of thousands of flamingoes (numbers low of late)and other bird species.Lake Nakuru hosts in its sanctuary the black and white rhinos.
Day:9 Lake Nakuru National Park – Masai Mara Game Reserve: (285 km – Approx. 5.5 Hrs.)The safari is 4 days and 2nights in Masai Mara & 1night inLake Nakuru. It is a group camping or lodge safari with accommodation for 2 nights in a budget tented camp or lodge inMaasai Mara and 1 night accommodation in a budget camp or lodge in Lake Nakuru town. All meals are included while on safari.

Today shall be a game viewing extravaganza!Masai Mara Game reserve remains the most exciting wildlife eco-system in the Natural world.It is host to the highest and most varied concentration of wild animals than any other wildlife park in the region.The scenic appeal of the tree studded savannah plains, the moderate climate and diversity of wild game species makes it a one stop shop for game viewing activities.
We shall traverse the Masai Mara reserve on a full day of unlimited game viewing encountering the big five and more of the lesser game.Picnic lunch shall be by the Mara river as we watch hippos & crocodiles or maybe the great migration (July – October)
Day 11:Maasai mara game reserve to Nairobi
Early morning game viewing drive at the Masai Mara game reserve.Depart Masai Mara in the mid – morning and proceed to Nairobi.There shall be a lunch stop along the way.Arrive Nairobi in the late afternoon, approximately 4:30 pm.
