Mount longonot is in the line of the great rift valley,along the nairobi- mai mahiu road,it is 45 minutes drive from nairobi and passes through the rich agricultural tea and coffee growing places of limuru
The mountain is a strato volcanic which erupted in 1860s
The highest peak in mt longonot is 2776m above sea level,the distance from the longonot park gate is to the summit is 9kms and takes 5 hours to go round the ring.
Major wildlife attractions at Mount Longonot include buffaloes, elands, lion, leopard, bushbucks, common zebra, giraffe and Grant’s gazelles.
